Biography

Chelle Stack made the 1988 Olympic team a few years after moving to Karolyi’s Gym in Houston. She placed third in all-around at the 1988 American Cup, winning gold on the floor, and then made the 1988 Seoul Olympics. After the Olympics she returned to Pennsylvania where she had trained prior to moving to Houston. Stack changed gyms several times before eventually retiring in 1991. During that time she won the 1988-89 US titles on uneven bars.

Stack later attended the University of Oklahoma, leaving after two years to perform in Kurt Thomas’s gym shows, and then moving to Florida, where she performed for several years at Disney World’s Cirque de Soleil. She eventually left Cirque de Soleil to coach at Brandy Johnson-Brown’s gym in Clairmont, Florida, but then opened Chelle Stack’s Gymnastics Academy in Winter Park, Florida. Stack was inducted into the USA Gymnastic Hall of Fame in 2011.
