Dakheli Amin began represented Egypt internationally in gymnastics in the mid-1950s, but had his most successful years when his country became the United Arab Republic from 1958-1961 due to its political union with Syria. His greatest triumphs came at the 1959 Mediterranean Games, when he won gold in the team all-around and bronze individually in the horse vault. His next stop was the 1960 Rome Olympics, where he was 15th with the team and had a best finish of joint-55th in the rings. Later that year, he withdrew from the national championships and did not complete the all-around, although he did finish second in the horizontal and parallel bars, and tied for third with the non-Olympian Ahmad Fahim in the rings. Amin continued to compete nationally through the first half of the 1960s, but died in an accident while performing a gymnastics routine in April 1966.
