John Bissinger was a member of the New York Turnverein in 1904 and was one of its top gymnasts. His best finish individually at the Olympics was fifth in the triathlon. Bissinger won several National Championships, including the 1901 and 1903 all-around title; the horse vault in 1898, 1900-01, and 1903; the pommeled horse in 1899-1901 and 1903, and the 1901 horizontal bar championship.
