Biography

All-round athlete Naji Keyrouz was a keen runner and cyclist who also practiced judo. In the latter Keyrouz represented Lebanon at the 1980 Moskva Olympics in the extra-lightweight class, where he was eliminated in the repêchage round. During the Lebanese Civil War he was kidnapped before eventually escaping and moving to the United States. Despite speaking little English, Keyrouz completed his medical training before moving to Texas, working as a surgeon in San Antonio for 35 years. Sadly he was killed whilst out riding his bike, after being struck by a car.
