Michael Gostigian competed in three Olympic Games in modern pentathlon – 1988, 1992, and 1996. He was a four-time US Champion, winning consecutively from 1992-95. Gostigian also won the 1992 World Cup title. He attended Notre Dame University, where he was NCAA épée champion in fencing in 1986. He was also a national caliber swimmer, spending eight years training with the US National team. In high school, he also ran cross-country and track and played on the soccer team. After college, Gostigian obtained a masters’ degree in international management. He later worked in the New York area as a personal trainer. He is married to Sharon Monplaisir, a three-time Olympian in fencing.
