Biography

Austrian rower Hans Binder was a member of the coxless fours crew that finished fifth at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The crew was assembled by RV Wiking Linz, and the other members were Rudolf Höpfler, Camillo Winkler, and Wilhelm Pichler. They lost the first-round race to Germany but then won their semi-final against Denmark and the United States to qualify for the final round. The crew had already won a silver medal at the 1935 European Championships.
