Austrian rower Camillo Winkler was a member of the coxless fours that finished fifth at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The crew was assembled by RV Wiking Linz, and the other members were Hans Binder, Wilhelm Pichler, and Rudolf Höpfler. They lost in the first-round to Germany but won their semi-final against Denmark and the United States to qualify for the final round.
The same quartet had previously won a silver medal at the 1935 European Championships. Winkler also won a bronze medal together with Höpfler in the 1935 coxless pairs.
