Light-heavyweight Boxer Hans Berger from Duisburg was eliminated on a points decision in the first round to the future 1932 Olympic champion Dave Carstens from South Africa. Berger was runner-up in 1932 and 1933 at the German Championships in the light-heavyweight division. It is believed, although not proven, that he worked in a POW camp in France in 1947 as a manager, and organized several boxing tournaments.
