A 1983 graduate of the University of Washington and a star on their rowing squad, Blair Horn joined the Canadian national team in the early 1980s and, with Ron Burak, Paul Steele, Nick Toulmin, and Paul Tessier, won a bronze medal in the coxed fours event at the 1983 Summer Universiade. His next stop was even more successful, as he, Steele, Dean Crawford, Mark Evans, Mike Evans, Grant Main, Brian McMahon, Kevin Neufeld, and Pat Turner captured gold in the coxed eights at the 1984 Summer Olympics, finishing just over 0.4 seconds ahead of the Americans. A back injury the following year took him out for the season and, eventually, ended his rowing career. He graduated from York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School in 1987 and was called to the Ontario provincial bar in 1989. After several years of practice, he moved to the province of British Columbia and was called to the bar there in 1995, where, as of 2013, he continues to work as a corporate attorney at Fasken Martineau. He also serves as the director of the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame Foundation, into which he was inducted in 1985, along with the rest of his gold medal-winning crew. They were also made members of the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2003.
