Biography

Noted for his diminutive height, Norm Rowe was the coxswain of Toronto Argonaut Rowing Club eights crew that represented Canada at the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games. Competing alongside Ted Chilcott, Jack Taylor, Frank Young, John Sharp, Mervin Kaye, Jack Russell, George McCauley, and Bo Westlake, the team was eliminated in the semi-finals repêchage after losing Germany.

Rowe later served on the executive of the Argonaut Club in the 1950s. Born in Toronto, Rowe grew up in the High Park area in the west end of the city, and was one of nine children born to William and Laura Rowe. By career, he worked in the printing industry. He later retired to Bracebridge, in the Muskoka area of Ontario where he remained until his death in 2016.
