Jacques Morel took up rowing at the age of 14 and won several French national titles in that sport between 1960 and 1965. His first major international competition was the 1960 Rome Olympics, where he won silver as a member of the coxed fours, alongside Robert Dumontois, Claude Martin, Guy Nosbaum, and Jean Klein. Four years later he captured another silver medal, this time in the coxed pairs with his brother George and Jean-Claude Darouy. In-between, he took bronze in the eights at the 1962 World Championships. He and his brother were also silver medalists in the coxed pairs, alongside the non-Olympian Gilles Florent, at the 1966 Worlds. Jacques retired from active competition in 1967 and worked as a carpenter, but also served as a coach.
