East German rower Kerstin Förster, wife of her teammate Olaf Förster, won the gold medal with the quadruple sculls at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. She also won two gold medals at the 1986 and 1987 World Championships, as well as a silver in 1983. In 1988, she won her only national title.
By profession, Förster studied coaching science and became a freelance personal and communication coach. In 2005, she published her textbook Die Managerin und ihre Mehrzahl.
