Biography

German rower Thorsten Streppelhoff was a double Olympian who won two gold medals (1992-96) with the quadruple sculls. He was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf in 1993, Germany’s highest sports award. He also won two gold medals with the eights at the 1991 and 1993 World Championships. In 1994, Streppelhoff and Peter Hoeltzenbein won the coxless pairs silver medal. Both men also participated in the 1994 Boat Race, representing Cambridge University.

Streppelhoff studied mechanical and process engineering. He then became managing director, and later chief operating officer, at edding AG, manufacturing writing and marking tools such as felt-tip pens and permanent markers.
