Biography

Starting in 1903 Károly Koch competed as a coxswain for Pannonia Evezős Egyesület. He won several regattas with them and was Hungarian champion 15 times between 1914 and 1927 – seven in coxed fours, and eight in the eights – and competed at the 1924 Paris Olympics in the coxed four.

Koch also served his club as a coach and board member. From 1924 he was secretary-general of the Hungarian Rowing Association. Following a long illness, he died at the relatively young age of 47. Shortly after his death, a memorial regatta was held in his honor.
