Lajos Wick started his sports career as a swimmer in the colors of BAK. At the age of 18 he switched to rowing as a member of the Pannonia Rowing Association. Between 1914 and 1925 Wick won seven national titles in the eights and five in the coxed fours. Wick fought as a soldier in World War I.
After the War, Wick competed at the 1924 Paris Olympics with the coxed fours of Pannonia, but they did not reach the final. At the 1925 European Championship the crew finished second, with Wick retiring later that year. He later became a coach of the famous club Sirály Evezös Egyesület.
