Biography

Abramo Albini won his first Italian rowing title in 1966 when, wearing the jersey of Canottieri Falck, he won the youth title in the coxless fours, which they retained the following year. With Canottieri Falck in 1968, Albini won the Italian title against Trieste’s Vigili del Fuoco. In October that year, he was a member of the Italian coxless fours at the Mexico Olympics and obtained the best result of his career by winning the bronze medal behind the crews of East Germany and Hungary.

After the Games, and following further success, Albini moved to the Fiamme Gialle (Tax Police). He won the Italian coxless fours title again in 1969 and 1971. which gave him the opportunity to participate in his second Olympic Games. However, the Italian four could only manage 10th place in the overall ranking at the München Games.

After retiring from competitive rowing, Albini and his wife Carla moved permanently to the Padova area. For the results obtained throughout his competitive career, the CONI (Italian Olympic Committee) awarded him the Medal of Athletic Value in bronze (1966), and silver two years later.
