After Bruno Sorich, Vittorio Gliubich was the second youngest member of the Canottieri Diadora of Zara eight, when coach Luigi Miller did not hesitate in making him stroke in 1923 in place of the more experienced Sofonio, and he kept his position in the boat for the 1924 Paris Olympics. In his début season, the 21-year-old Gliubich helped Diadora win the eights at the Italian National Championships in Como. At the same venue the following week, he helped them to further success in winning the European Championships, where Italy beat Switzerland by the narrowest of margins.
At the 1924 Olympics, Gliubich was a member of the Italian eight that won a surprise bronze medal behind the United States and Canada. It was the last race of his career as the crew retired after the Games and did not even take part in the European Championships shortly after the Paris Games. Gliubich continued to live in Zara until the exodus after World War II, then he moved to Fidenza, where he died in 1984 at the age of 82.
