Leif Sörvik was on the stroke of the Göteborgs RK’s eight team at the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm. They lost in the heat against Sydney Rowing Club representing Australasia. In 1931, he became chairman of the club and was awarded the club’s Great Gold Medal.
Sörvik started his career as a commercial accountant. From 1919-30 he was owner of the Leif Sövik company and became co-owner of the timber agency Leif Sörvik & Co. In 1918, he married the well-known paintress Brita Richardis von Schwerin. The couple brought up three daughters. Leif’s older brothers Birger and Haakon won gold with Sweden in the team all-around event at the 1908 Olympics in London.
