Throughout the 1970s Soviet rower Vladimir Yeshinov won multiple medals at several championships around the world. In addition to representing Dynamo St. Petersburg, Yeshinov competed for the Soviet Union from 1970 until 1977. His first international success came at the 1970 World Championships with bronze in the coxed pair, before winning bronze in the same event at the 1971 European Championships. His performances earned him a place on the Soviet team for the 1972 München Olympics, where he came fifth in the coxed pairs. Yeshinov made up for missing out on an Olympic medal by winning gold in the coxed pair at the 1973 European and 1974 World Championships. He then switched to the coxed four where he enjoyed further success with another gold at the World Championships in 1975. At the 1976 Montréal Olympics he was part of the crew that beat the East German team by more than two seconds in the final to win gold. Yeshinov won his last international medal in 1977 with silver in the eight at the World Championships. He later became the President of the St. Petersburg Rowing Federation and was a member of the Russian Rowing Federation.
