Dzintars Krišjānis was a silver medalist in coxed fours rowing at the 1980 Moskva Olympics. He first became known internationally in 1975, winning a bronze medal at the FISA Junior Championships in the pair. He was a silver medalist at the Soviet Championships in 1976 and 1977. At the World Championships Krišjānis won bronze medals in 1981-82, while at the Spartakiad, he won the fours in 1979 and added a bronze medal in 1983. Krišjānis and his wife ran a successful hardware store and pet store.
