Biography

Kim Santiago was a coxswain on the crew team at the University of Wisconsin. She was on the US National team from 1985-92, competing at the 1988 Olympics, the 1986 Goodwill Games, and the World Championships in 1985-87. Santiago won two silvers medals in the four and eight at the 1986 Goodwills. She was an alternate to the US Olympic team in 1992.

During and after her rowing career, Santiago spent several summers working in Alaska. She worked in a canning factory, for an engineering firm on the North Slope, and then on a commercial fishing boat. She also taught English at a high school in Japan. Santiago then became involved in the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA), and eventually returned to her alma mater, becoming the director of international relations for the WAA.
