William Becklean, known as “Beck” to his teammates, coxed the Yale crews for four years, graduating in 1958. The Eli’s biggest wins behind Beck came in 1957 when they won the Eastern Sprints and also beat Harvard. Becklean had prepared at Phillips Exeter, where he wrestled and coxed their prep crews. While at Yale he spent one year on the boxing team.
