Jon Brown was in the 5th seat of the eight at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He had rowed in college at Boston University, graduating in 1991. While in school, Brown did an internship with Jim Henson, of Muppets fame, shortly before Henson’s untimely death.
Brown rowed mostly in the eights or fours. He won four medals at the Pan American Games, a silver in 1991 in the eight, two golds in 1995 – in the four and the eight, and a silver in the four in 1999. Brown competed at five World Championships, winning three medals – a gold in the eight in 1994, and bronzes in the eight in 1993 and 1995. He also rowed at the Henley Royal Regatta in 1994-95 and 1998, winning the Grand Challenge Cup in the eight in 1994-95, and winning the Queen Mother Cup in the 1998 quad sculls.
