George Dietz, of the Century Boat Club, rowed the coxless four at the St. Louis Olympics and won a gold medal. He was the manager of the Shardell Hotel in St. Louis for many years. Dietz was a St. Louis native. Although he died in New York, he was buried in the Valhalla Cemetery in St. Louis.
