Ken Dreyfuss attended the University of Pennsylvania where he coxed the Penn heavyweight crew that won three straight titles at the IRAs (Intercollegiate Rowing Association). He graduated from Penn in 1969 and then competed for the Vesper Boat Club, helping them win NAAO (National Association of Amateur Oarsme) titles in 1974 and 1975 in the eights. Dreyfuss coxed pairs at the 1974 and 1975 World Championships, and won a gold medal in the coxed pairs at the 1975 Pan American Games.
Dreyfuss would become a rowing coach, starting at Chestnut Hill Academy, then moving to the US Naval Academy, Stanford University, and in 1993 he began coaching the Potomac Boat Club. He led the Naval Academy to IRA titles in 1982-84 and in 1986, while at Stanford, was named Pac-10 Coach-of-the-Year. Dreyfuss also coached the senior women’s team at the 2003 World Championships.
