Charles Hewitt rowed at Harvard, graduating in 1971, and later obtained an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1973. He was US Champion in 1972 in both the eights and coxless fours. In 1971 Hewitt rowed on the eight that won the Thames Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta.
Hewitt later went into the business world working with EW Blanch / Benfield Blanch / Benfield, Inc. in Boston and Chicago from 1979-2007. He became a leader in the reinsurance industry with special expertise in property casualty insurance portfolio management.
