Thomas Mack coxed US boats at both the 1928 and 1932 Olympics, the pair in 1928 and the four in 1932. In 1928, Mack was only a 14-year-old, 90 lb. (41 kg) high school student. He also coxed the US eight that won the 1930 European Championships. Mack represented the Penn Athletic Club, and the club eight that won the 1930 Europeans, and dominated US rowing from 1928-32, was known as the Big Eight.
Mack settled in Chicago where he went into insurance. He start Mack & Parker, a firm that later became Hub International, a well-known insurance brokerage.
