Ed Salisbury first attended Sacramento City Junior College but later matriculated at the University of California in Berkeley. He was on the Cal Eight which won the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Regatta as well as the Olympic Games in 1932, and was the stroke oar. Salisbury later became a manager of a fruit packaging company.
