Boris Kokorev, born in Tbilisi in Georgia, was a five-time Olympian sports shooter, paticipating in 1988 for the Soviet Union, and in 1992 for the Unified Team. After the breakdown of the Soviet Union he turned to Russia claiming the gold medal in the free pistol 50 metres event at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Games. He then came back twice in 2000 and 2004 but with lower success. He was even more lucky at World Championships earning 13 medals (6-4-3) from 1985-2007. By profession, he was a policeman.
