Biography

Thai competitive sports shooter Opas Ruengpanyawoodhi represented the national team for more than 30 years in pistol events. Ruengpanyawoodhi was prolific at both the Asian Games and the SEA Games, winning dozens of medals across multiple editions. He first won a medal at the Asian Games in 1982 with bronze in the 25 metres centre fire pistol team event in New Delhi, with his last medal coming 24 years later with another team bronze in Doha in 2006. He won two golds at the Games; the first in the 25 metres standard pistol team event in 1986, before winning an individual gold in the same discipline in 2002. In 1984 Ruengpanyawoodhi competed in the 25 metres rapid-fire pistol at the Los Angeles Olympics where he tied for 13th with five other athletes.
