Christine Larsen was active on the Canadian national synchronized swimming scene in the 1980s and first paired with Kathy Glen in 1986. Together they won the duet title at the 1990 Commonwealth Games and finished third and second respectively in the figures event, despite Glen’s father dying shortly after she left for the tournament. Larsen and Glen then won a silver medal at the 1991 World Aquatics Championship, alongside Lisa Alexander, Karen Clark, Karen Fonteyne, Cari Read, and the non-Olympians Charlene Davies and Heather Johnston. The duo tried out for Canada’s delegation to the 1992 Summer Olympics, but failed to make the team and retired soon thereafter. Two years later, however, Larsen returned to the national scene with the goal of competing at the 1996 Summer Olympics and, 18 months thereafter, made Canada’s synchronized swimming squad. At the Games Larsen won a silver medal in the team event alongside Alexander, Clark, Fonteyne, Read, Sylvie Fréchette, Janice Bremner, Valérie Hould-Marchand, Kasia Kulesza , and Erin Woodley, finishing behind the United States and ahead of Japan. Larsen soon returned to retirement and was named to the Sports Hall of Fame in her native Coquitlam, British Columbia in 2010. Her older sister Karin competed in the solo synchronized swimming event at the 1988 Summer Olympics.
