Vanlal Dawla was a flyweight boxer who competed at the 1972 München Olympics. The son of a Union Military Police officer, Dawla also joined the Union Military Police. Initially he represented the Chin State, joining the Burmese Navy in 1965.
Dawla was Burmese National Champion in 1967-68 and 1971-72. Internationally Dawla won gold at the 1969 Southeast Asian Peninsular Games. At those games, he added silvers in 1971 and 1973 and a bronze medal in 1967. He also won a silver medal at the 1970 Asian Boxing Championships in Manila.
