Biography

Sabine Herbst-Klenz was a German butterfly and IM swimmer who participated in the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympics. She had her best result in 1996, finishing an unfortunate fourth in the 400 metres IM. At the 1997 Short-Course World Championships she won an IM relay silver medal.

At European Championships, Herbst-Klenz won one gold, one silver and three bronze medals. Domestically, she won national titles over 200 metres butterfly in 1991, and over 400 metres IM in 1994 and 1996-97. Her parents Eva Wittke and Jochen Herbst, as well as her brother Stefan Herbst, were also Olympic swimmers. By profession, Sabine became a swimming coach.
