Luigi Cangiullo was a diver who specialized on the platform, winning seven Italian titles from 1922-30, also adding three Italian Championships on springboard. His best year was 1927 when, at the European Championships in Bologna, he placed fourth on platform, just behind his teammate, Selva, who won the bronze medal.
Born in Napoli, Gegè Cangiullo moved with his family to the Lombardy region at 5-years-old and began to do gymnastics with the club Pro Patria of Busto Arsizio, but he later switched to diving. Cangiullo died at a little over 30-years-old in an accident at the pool of the Lido in Milano when he struck his head on a cornice.
