Nora Kathleen Miller, known as Kay, was a New Zealand swimmer. Miller was born in 1909 and was the youngest of six daughters. From 1924 to 1926 Miller was a pupil at the Otago Girls’ High School. Miller swam for the Kiwi Amateur Swimming Club. In 1927 she became a two-time national champion, winning the 220 yards and 440 yards freestyle. The following year she was part of the New Zealand delegation that went to the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. Miller was 19-years-old at the time of the Games, with her mother travelling with her to Europe as a chaperone. Miller became the first person from Otago to represent New Zealand at the Olympics. She swam in the 100 metres freestyle and the 400 metres freestyle, reaching the semi-finals in both events. After the Olympics Miller retired from swimming and became a coach. Miller also played representative hockey for Otago and Wellington.
