Between December 1946 and June 1960, Vincenzo Orlandini refereed 235 Serie A matches. His last game was a 2-2 draw between Bologna and Padova. He won the Giovanni Mauro Award as Best Referee of the Year in 1951. Internationally, Orlandini officiated at two Olympic Games (1952 and 1960) with his best moment being the bronze medal match between Sweden and Germany in 1952. He also went to two FIFA World Cups. In 1954 he was in charge of the Uruguay - Scotland and the Germany - Austria semi-final, before being one of the linesmen in the famous final that saw Germany shock the “Mighty Magyars” of Hungary 3-2. Four years later at the World Cup in Sweden, Orlandini officiated in just one match, between Paraguay and, again, Scotland.
