Aleksey Kudryavtsev was a 400 metre freestyle specialist. The high point of his career was at the 1992 Olympics, where he was a member of the Unified Team’s gold medal-winning 4x200 freestyle relay team. Kurdyavtsev did not participate in the final, but swam the second leg in the first round heat that was won by the Unified Team. At the 1992 Olympics, he was also eliminated in his heat of the 400 free. In addition to his Olympic appearance, Kudryavtsev also won a bronze in the 400 freestyle at the 1991 Soviet Championships. His daughter Yana Kudryavtseva participated in the 2016 Rio Games as a Rhythmic gymnast.
