Yury Vengerovsky played most of his career from 1956 to 1967 in one club - Burevestnik Kharkiv, except a short spell to CSKA Moskva from 1962-1964. With CSKA Moskva, Vengerovsky won his only Soviet title in 1963. Vengerovsky played with Soviet national team from 1958-1966 and won Olympic gold in 1964, World Championships title in 1962 and World Cup in 1965. He also won bronzes at the 1966 World Championships and 1963 European Championships. After finishing his sporting career, Vengerovsky worked as a volleyball coach, being the coach of Burevestnik Kharkiv, SKA Rostov-na-Donu, Spartak Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Avtomobilist Samara. Since 1977 until his death in 1998, Vengerovsky worked in Belgorod, being the head coach of local clubs Tekhnolog and Belgore-Dynamo.
