As a high school senior in 1967, Laurie Lewis was named to the US national team that went to the World Championships and won a gold medal at the Pan American games. She later attended UCLA, graduating in 1972. Lewis led UCLA to national championships in 1971-72, in the Division of Girls and Women’s Sports (DCGS) in the pre-AIAW days. In 1997 she was named one of the 25 greatest Bruin volleyball players ever.
