Biography

Friedhelm Osselmann was a member of the West German water polo team that finished sixth at both the 1956 Melbourne and the 1960 Rome Olympics. Domestically he played for ASC Duisburg. In 1957, 1963 and 1965 Osselmann helped Duisburg win the West German Championships.

He was married to Olympic swimmer Birgit Klomp and together they became parents of water polo players Rainer and non-Olympian Karl Osselmann. In 1963 Friedhelm went to Japan for one year as a developing aid for water polo.
