Biography

Gilbert Dubier was 16-years-old when he joined his local amateur wrestling club in Nantes in 1947. In two short years Dubier had become a national champion, the first of eight titles he won during his career. In 1956 he was selected to compete at the Melbourne Olympics but did not start. He had better fortune four years later when he competed in the bantamweight Greco-Roman event at the Roma Games. Dubier won his opening bout, defeating Ewald Tauer (GER), before suffering two consecutive losses to be eliminated.
