Daniel Robin

Daniel Robin is France’s greatest ever wrestler. He competed at two Olympic Games and in 1968, won medals in both freestyle and Greco-Roman, one of only seven Olympic wrestlers to do so in the same year. Robin won gold at both styles at the 1967 Mediterranean Games, and in 1971 won gold in Greco-Roman and silver in freestyle at that tournament. He was 1967 World Champion in freestyle and won a silver medal in freestyle at the 1968 European Championships.

Robin was a 13-time French champion, winning six freestyle titles (1963-64, 1966-67, 1969-70) and seven Greco-Roman titles (1964-68, 1971-72). He was also a useful rugby player with FC Grenoble from 1971-74.

Robin became the head coach for the French national team, and then was vice-president of the French Wrestling Federation. He later was a technical delegate to United World Wrestling (then FILA). He also served as the director of wrestling operations for the 2012 London Organizing Committee.
