Jumping Joe Caldwell, the human pogo stick, played for Arizona State in the early 60s. He went on to play for 11 years in the NBA and the ABA, always as a top performer Caldwell was only 6-5 (1.95) tall, short for a forward, but he played that position well thanks to his prodigious leaping ability. In 1970 Caldwell jumped leagues, going from Atlanta of the NBA to Carolina of the ABA. He later became enmeshed in a bitter contract dispute as a result of his changing leagues and some later developments.
