Biography

Jan Michalik wrestled Greco-Roman at the 1968 and 1972 Olympic Games. In 1972 he won the European title at 52 kg, the first ever won by a Polish wrestler, and he followed that in 1973 with a repeat gold medal. Michalik was second at the 1973 World Championships. Michalik was fourth at the 1972 Olympics and at the World Championships in 1970 and 1971. At the European Championships, he also had finishes of fourth in 1980, fifth in 1975, and sixth in 1968.
