Sten Abel was a Norwegian career officer. He graduated from the war school and was later promoted to first lieutenant in 1928. During the Norwegian campaign in April 1940, a company of volunteers was created under his command, which was called Abel’s Ski Company. The company was disbanded, when the Norwegian forces surrendered in May. Abel was taken prisoner and spent some time in 1940 and again in 1941 in detention.
