Ottorino Flaborea started his basketball career with Libertas Biella between 1954-64 before spending eight years with Pallacanestro Varese, where he won four consecutive Italian titles (1969-72), three Intercontinental Cups (1966, 1970 and 1973), three European Cups (1970-71 and 1973), one European Cup Winners’ Cup (1967) and four Italian Cups (1969-1971, 1973).
Flaborea won the first of 129 international caps (scoring 73 points) against Argentina in 1962. He appeared at three Olympics (1964, 1968 and 1972), two European Championships (1967 and 1971) and one World Championship (1970). A bronze medal at the 1971 Europeans in Germany was his best finish. After retirement, Flaborea became coach of Basket Brescia (1974-75) and later Vigliano Basket (1980-2000). He was inducted into the Italian Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.
