Sailor Christian Binder participated in the 1988 Seoul and 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He partnered Heimo Hecht in the two-person dinghy (470) in 1988 and placed 24th, and with Markus Piso in 1992, finishing 26th. Binder won eight European and 30 national titles. He also became helmsman of the Austrian offshore team Astro.
Binder was the founder of the sailmaking company CBS Sails in 1993 and became managing director. The company avoided mass production by outsourcing production to low-wage countries. Binder also had a major influence on the creation of several regatta events.
