Jeffrey Grayer was a basketball shooting guard who played at Iowa State from 1985-88, where he set the school career scoring record with 2,502 points. He was a three-time All-Big 8 selection, and an All-American in 1988. After college Grayer played in the NBA through 1998, starting with the Milwaukee Bucks, who drafted him in the 1st round with the 13th pick in the 1988 NBA Draft. Grayer was with the Bucks through 1992, but then spent time with the Golden State Warriors, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Sacramento Kings, and the Charlotte Hornets. He also bounced around the CBA for a few years with the Rockford Lightning and Quad City Thunder.
Grayer later went into coaching. In 2010 he became an assistant coach at Iowa State. When new coach Fred Hoiberg came in later that year, he was moved to Director of Basketball Operations, which caused Grayer to leave the coaching ranks and return to his home state of Michigan. Grayer formed Flint Athletes 4 Better Education (F.A.B.E), a sports program that helps inner city youth through an AAU travel and education. He also became owner and director of business development for WT Stevens Construction.
