At the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, Tom Riggs finished seventh in the 8-metre open class aboard Feo, along with Philip Falle, Thomas Skinner and the three Roney siblings Margaret (owner of Feo), Esmond and Ernest. Four years earlier, Riggs won a silver medal in the same class aboard Emily when Ernest Roney (whose father owner Emily), was again a fellow crew member, as was Riggs’ father Walter.
Riggs was a mechanical and electrical engineer by profession. He was at one time the commodore of the Aldeburgh Yacht Club, where he would still be seen racing his Dragon class yacht Octavia, into his fifties.
