Tom Webster was a member of the California Yacht Club. He sailed as a crew member with Pierpont Davis aboard the Santa Maria in the Olympic Trials in Los Angeles Harbor. Davis finished second to Owen Churchill, but Churchill invited all of Davis’s crew members to work as crew in at least some of the Olympic races, allowing all of them to receive gold medals, including Webster.
